bringing you fun horse & pony shows for all levels
About Us and What We OfferFiona Reed used to live and breath hunting and eventing, with a bit of point to pointing and National Hunt racing thrown in, but came into showing having helped out a friend for a season and then following an injury to her own thoroughbred ex-racehorse that restricted him to flatwork only moved rather reluctantly into the show ring and became hooked!
Having been lucky enough to have done reasonably well over the years in Riding Horse, Hunter and Cob classes, homebred horses then took over with inhand classes and then ridden and working hunter with her most successful horse in the ring being the coloured mare Jemima Puddledub who following an eventing career up to Intermediate level, did well Inhand & Ridden as a Hunter and in CHAPS Coloured classes but excelled as a Working Hunter and Intermediate Worker winning not only the BSPS Scottish Points Championship but also the points for the whole of the UK. Fiona is also a judge on various panels including BSPS WHP, CHAPS, TGCA and RoR and enjoys seeing shows from all aspects as a competitor, spectator, judge and organiser. The admin side of things began in 1993 having seen an advert in the Scottish Farmer for someone to help in the Highland Show offices for 3 months over the show ..... having applied, was phoned, asked for interview, interviewed and started work all in less than a week! That started an annual job working in the office full time from February to July until Foot & Mouth year. A few years as secretary of BSPS Scottish Branch and then Puddledub Shows were born. Fiona is very flattered to have won the Scottish Equestrian Personality of the Year in 2017, 2018 and 2020 and Runner Up in 2019, ... all nominated and voted for by the Scottish Equestrian community. |
Puddledub Shows were started by Fiona Reed and have grown over the years from running a small one-ring winter WHP show at Balcormo to adding various other shows throughout the season catering for horses, ponies, riders and handlers of all levels, whether newbies to the ring, seeking qualification for Shows and Championships down south, or to savour the excitement and thrills of a Championship Show north of the border with Evening Performances and great atmosphere.
Our main endeavour is to deliver shows with an easy going, relaxed atmosphere, to encourage and support all competitors and provide a fun day that will last in memories for even seasons to come. Our 'portfolio' of shows now include relaxed one-ring Winter Shows with 4 Inhand & Ridden Shows and 4 Worker Shows at Muirmill EC in Ayrshire, Netherton EC in Perthshire, Champfleurie in West Lothian and Howe EC in Fife, all in the months of February, March and April. We are really missing Fountain in Aberdeenshire after many happy years holding shows there On the first Bank Holiday Monday in May we host our Spring Show which holds Royal International qualifiers for Hunters, Hacks, Cobs & Riding Horses as well as BSPS, CHAPS & VHS classes and qualifiers for NPS Blair and many other unaffiliated classes too. In August (usually the second Sunday of the month) which we have previously held at the picturesque Brechin Castle Showground with it's superb grass rings and stabling within the showfield for those travelling from further afield, but in the last couple of years have held at Howe EC. The schedule offers a wide range of mainly unaffiliated classes but will also include CHAPS & VHS qualifiers if judges are available and we try to bring them from south of the border to fresh 'eyes' to assess your lovely horses and ponies. After the fun we had at our special Platinum Jubliee Show at Howe in June 2022, and the Coronation Show in 2023 we ran another show on the same weekend this year, with a similar schedule and incorporating a team element, and as the Sunday Funday Show now seems to have an annual slot in the calendar. We then start planning to bring you our truly awesome Caledonian Showing Championships at Highfield @ Howe in Fife.... this show now offers 3 days and three nights of fabulous showing with gorgeous rosettes, lovely prizes and sashes and a beautifully draped main arena. Only qualified horses and ponies may compete, and all the Puddledub Shows and around 30 other shows around the whole of Scotland are qualifiers throughout the season ... full details are available on the Caledonian Showing Championship pages. To finish the season we hold a very relaxed Christmas Jumper Show with a very wide selection of classes for all breeds |
